KIMONO COLLAGE ART

HANA

“To the Next 100 Years”

The one and only painting that connects Kyoto's textiles to the future

HANA's artwork is based on the concept of 'fusion of traditional Kyoto textiles and contemporary art'.

She has developed her own style of expression by fusing and collaging leftover cloth from kimono making with art materials.

Her work is characterised by the use of the texture of traditional Kyoto textiles, which are three-dimensional and shine in the light.

She cherishes her roots in Kyoto, where she was born into a Nishijin weaver's family. When you see her work, you will feel the beauty, the suppleness and hope of nature.

She also gives new value to scraps that would normally be thrown away, aiming to 'pass on the culture of Kyoto's traditional textiles' and further contribute to the SDGs.

HANA's life theme is "to pass on the beauty of Kyoto's traditional textiles for the next 100 years".

She will continue to transmit the culture of Kyoto and Japanese traditions to the world as a hope for the future by carefully handcrafting all her creations using surplus fabrics from Kyoto's traditional textiles, a symbol of Japan's traditional culture.
